Self-serve frozen yogurt
Yogurtopia was the first concept, before Afor Concepts had a name. Sam Abbas opened it in Dearborn in December 2010 as a self-serve frozen yogurt shop: pick a cup, pull the handles, pile on the toppings and pay by weight.
It was built around rotating flavors, a wall of fresh toppings and a bright, friendly room that made it a neighborhood stop after school and after dinner.
Yogurtopia's last year in business was 2015, the same year the first Brome Modern Eatery opened. The lessons from running it, from hiring and training to branding and buildout, shaped everything that came after.
