Sam Abbas is the Founder and CEO of Afor Concepts, a Dearborn, Michigan restaurant concept company that has created brands including Brome Modern Eatery, Spilt Juice and The Great Commoner, and today owns and operates Brome Modern Eatery.
Abbas launched Brome in October 2015 to meet the need for fresh, healthy dining and to change the way people think about food. Brome is built around ethically sourced ingredients and sustainable operations, with grass-fed beef and chicken raised without hormones or antibiotics. Brome's juice bar became its own brand, Spilt Juice, in August 2017, and in May 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, Afor Concepts opened The Great Commoner, a "Boutique Break Cafe" serving breakfast, brunch, coffee and baked goods.
Abbas holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from Albion College and an MBA in finance from Arizona State University. He is a CPA and an alumnus of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. He has served on the board of the West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority, chaired the City of Dearborn Promotions Committee, and, as an executive board member of the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce, helped launch Dearborn's first Restaurant Week in 2017.
